I had very mixed feelings about this episode, and it took me a long while to wrap my heap around this, let alone put this into words. There really isn't all that much to analyze this week, but it was still one of the fucking best NCIS episodes ever. (It sure was by far the funniest, to me.) So, instead of an intricate analysis of all the subtext in it, all you'll find this week are ( flails, feels, laughs, and joy about a perfect episode. Oh, and spoilers, obviously. )

So, let me start out with a confession: contrary to the rest of the fandom, I wasn't too excited about this episode before it aired. Yes, yes, the girls getting an ep together sounded nice, I guess, and Cote was excited about it, true. Last week, I speculated that this two-parter might leave me feeling like "Engaged" did last year -- moved to tears and ripped apart by part one, feeling mostly lukewarm about part two, due to the focus on action rather than emotion.

Last Tuesday, my show piled so much goddamn perfection in one single episode that I had real trouble finding the right words. "Shell Shock Pt I" was by far my favorite episode of the season so far.
